Lakeview Urbanists Petition and actions Alert!

From our friends at Lakeview Urbanists:

We recently created a petition in response to several newsworthy car crashes along Inner Lake Shore Drive last year, including three that injured or killed pedestrians at Addison and Inner LSD. We see this as an urgent public safety/health issue that the Chicago Department of Transportation must address immediately.

The 46th and 44th Ward offices submitted requests to CDOT a couple months ago, but they encouraged residents to put a petition together to accelerate the traffic study process because this shows that it is backed by the community. We also ask for CDOT to put in meaningful infrastructure changes that reduce car speeds along this dangerous and deadly corridor.

We think this is something that will benefit our community and improve public health and safety.

Please, sign up and share this petition https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/improve-safety-on-inner-lake-shore-drive

It only takes 2 minutes!

More latest actions from Lakeview Urbanists here:

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) will propose improvements for Inner Lake Shore Drive at the East Lake View Neighbors (ELVN) meeting on Tues, 3/10 at 6 pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 708 W Belmont Ave.

We’ve heard that CDOT might only add more road signs and striping, which we know isn’t enough.

Show up and let CDOT know that we need meaningful infrastructure changes and traffic calming measures like curb bumpouts.

East Lake View Neighbors (ELVN) Meeting

📅 Tuesday, March 10 | 6:00–7:30 pm

📍 Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 708 W Belmont Ave

One last thing: At this same meeting, the Cubs will propose a plan to demolish housing and expand their Camry parking lot, which will incentivize more driving and create more game day congestion. But we can use our community power to stop them.

  1. Sign our letter campaign against the Cubs parking lot expansion

  2. Flood the zone at the ELVN meeting to oppose their plan
