Treatment not trauma City Wide campaign is on!

Do you want accessible mental healthcare and city-wide non-police crisis response?

Yes! We can have good things in Chicago and we want our Alderman to vote to fully fund them!

There is still a lot of work to be done, so that we could have the right person responding to the right call at the right time, as our lovely friend Ishan Daya explains. We need to fully fund the expansion of this program to 24×7, and the reopening of the public mental health centers to bring together this ecosystem of care, which depends on CDPH leadership and city council members, which is why we keep organizing.

To make sure that we keep our CARE service, AND secure funding to expand it to 24×7 access for everyone, we need to make sure that our city council hears us loud and clear. Why is this important for us in the 44th Ward? Read more here.

What are our Treatment Not Trauma demands? We want:

  • Universal, barrier-free access to mental healthcare and community wellness programming.

  • Comprehensive behavioral health services and holistic wellness services at all facilities, as a baseline, with multi-service offerings based on the local community needs.

  • City-wide non-police crisis response teams as first responders, integrated with CDPH public mental health centers.

  • A fully-staffed, unionized public Community Care Worker Corps of peer support specialist and the like, across both crisis and continuous care.

  • A localized community wellness center board to drive accountability and agency on the quality of care and services at our local facilities.
