Illinois House District 13 - Ridge Knapp
2026 Democratic primary delivered its fare share of excitement, from the usual suspects to the brand new folks who are claiming their stake in this year’s elections. We get to hear from a lot of activists, community organizers and just folks who show up as volunteers in community spaces. What is unusual about this race is how heated people get and how strongly they feel about their candidate. It goes from zero to 100 in about two seconds when the candidates names are brought up in house district 13th race. Since house district 13 barely skims the northern edge of our ward, it felt safer to stay out of this controversial race altogether. But the more we watched how this race has unfolded, the weirder stuff got. One thing that remained productive and frankly, charming is Ridge Knapp’s campaign. At the risk of being yelled at (a lot!), we’re going to endorse Ridge for state house district 13.
Ridge is the youngest candidate int his race and his platform is progressive without ifs, thens and buts. It spans from affordability, to housing, addressing homelessness, public transportation, energy, immigration, education, LGBTQ rights, healthcare, big tech, election reform and progressive revenue. In this race, our vote is for Ridge. Check out Ridge’s campaign site and his social media for the latest updates.
