IL State Comptroller - Karina Villa

Karina Villa is the only choice for the Illinois State Comptroller, no ifs thens or buts. She is the woman who was chasing ICE out of her neighborhood in high heels on her way to work. She is the progressive queen who doesn’t look over her shoulder when unapologetically standing with the Palestinian people right here in Chicago. She paid the price for her progressive values, standing up for working people and against big money in politics, but it doesn’t stop her, it only makes her stronger as a candidate and as a person.

We need our State Comptroller to advocate for the middle class tax relief, and ensure the wealthy pay their fair share, framing both of those positions as fiscally responsible (which they are!) and economically necessary for the State. Karina understands how the Comptroller’s office works, and knows how to use its duties to achieve progressive goals and do what’s best for the people of Illinois, and her platform is proof of that. She’ll prioritize paying bills for key services like health, education, housing, and mental health, ensuring Illinoisians who rely on that funding don’t get screwed. Karina will also increase transparency at the office, ensuring Illinoisians know how and where their money was spent, and increasing the rigor of the State’s procurement process. She’ll also use this power to bar ICE contractors from securing contracts with taxpayer dollars. That is how you use a Nerd Office to get shit done.

Karina Villa’s endorsement list is a chef’s kiss of progressive rock stars of Chicago and Illinois: Delia Ramirez, Robert Peters, Lakesia Collins, Graciela Guzmán, Lilian Jiménez, Abdelnasser Rashid, Anthony Quezada, Jessica Vasquez, Lamont Robinson, Byron Sigcho-Lopez, Jesse Fuentes, Assessor Fritz Kaegi, and organizations like SEIU, CTU, CCCTU, The Justice Coalition, The Muslim Civic Coalition Activate, The People’s Lobby, United Northwest Side.

We absolutely agree with the Girl I Guess Guide that Karina Villa is the real deal. She’s ready to do the job, she’s progressive, she’ll make the right decisions for Illinois and run the office well, and she isn’t a weird crypto person or in bed with the Israel Lobby. She’s the right choice for Comptroller.
