why 44th ward political power matters

Hello, Lovely People of Lakeview’s 44th Ward!

The people of the 44th Ward have consistently voted for progress: we voted for Mayor Brandon Johnson with the progressive coalition of Chicago in 2023, we voted YES in the Spring 2024 referendum to Bring Chicago Home, we even got close to 47% votes for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 presidential primary. Yet our ward, state, house and congressional representation doesn’t reflect our progressive values. How do we change that? We organize.

Now more than ever we need transparent, responsive leadership at every level of our government, starting right here in our neighborhood.

Why we focus on March 17th primaries

The Democratic Primary is March 17. In most of our races, there are no Republicans running—whoever wins the Democratic Primary will be our next representative. On paper, we have a Democratic supermajority in our city and state, but what we really need? We need to elect better Democrats. See our 44th Ward Progressive Voter Guide here: Elections

If you are not in the 44th ward, or you want to learn more about each candidate, here are other progressive voter guides that we trust:

Important NOTE: Part 1 in our voter guide covers our endorsed candidates, and in Part 2 we are offering our recommendations based on the information in the progressive voters guides above, and our direct experiences with candidates organizing here in the 44th Ward.

There will be some differences on your actual ballot, depending on which corner of the ward you are in. This guide offers the look at what most of us will see on our ballots.
