There is one race in these March 2026 primaries that defies all logic and expectations, even for the seasoned liberal and progressive activists in Chicago. A Chicago Public Schools teacher and U.S. Marine Corps veteran thinks he can be a viable candidate for the United States Senate without any corporate, PAC, or DNC backing? This is precisely why we endorse Kevin. He is the only candidate in this crowded field who is, in fact, completely independent. He has visited every county in Illinois in this painted school bus. He holds the attention of people in the room like the teacher that he is. If anything, watching Kevin command a room of hostile old school Lakeview neo-liberals, made it clear that we need leaders who don’t enable our worst segregationist tendencies, who don’t tell us what we want to hear and stroke our egos. Kevin was direct and to the point. When asked what makes him think he can go straight to the top without any political experience, he asked what experience did Governor Pritzker have before he ran for his current office? Exactly. If service to your country as a Marine and a Public School teacher doesn’t add up to the experience of being born into immense wealth, then maybe we need to check our priorities, and ask ourselves how we got to this sunken place we are in now.
